rocks in olympic national park
In Olympic national park there are three main types of rock, sandstone and shale which are sedimentary rocks and basalt which is an igneous rock. The sedimentary rock is formed when sediments from the north american plate were brought into the ocean and over time these sediments were packed together into layers then under the water and that how the sedimentary rock got there. The igneous rock in Olympic national park was formed when vents underwater opened letting lava flow out and when the water cooled and hardened the lava it became the igneous rock basalt.
